Tommorowland was one of the Opening lands of Disneyland. It was known to be Advanced to the people of the 50's. Tommorow land was opened on July 17, 1955 with it's other counterparts. Tommorow land opened with 8 attractions ( rides and exhibits). Tommorowland 1955 was supposed to take place on the year 1986, showcasing different technologies from that time. Throughout these many years tommorowland openend many rides and attractions such buckets anf the House of the future.The Expansion of 1959 added tommorowland 3 new attractions, The Monorail, Submarine Voyage and the Matterhorn.
After the addition of 3 new rides, imagineers decided they wanted to renovate Tommorowland.During the 1966-67 renovation Walt Disney Died which slowed the Project. 1967 the area opened and closed attractions. Attractions like The PeopleMover and the Carousel of Progress. These attractions put the on the move theme on Tommorowland, with addition of more transportationaround the park. In 1973, "The World on the Move" began to change. General Electric decided to remove Carousel of Progress and add America Sings. a ride with 114 animatronics. A year later Flight to the Moon (Rocket Ship) was changed to Mission Mars. 1975, the project was known to be Space Mountain, at the same year the speed tunnel was added. In 1986 Tommorowland: Star Tours and Captain EO. In 1984 they upgraded 360 vision.1985 Adventures thru inner space closed. In 1994 The Skyway closed. People believed it was because of Matterhorn's weak sides. In 1993 planned a major refurbishment was planned for Tommorowland. Mission Space was planned to be removed and replaced with ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. However the financial failure of Euro Disneyland ( Disneyland Paris) caused Disney to have a tight budget.This failure not only ruined tommorowland but other Disneypark plan.
The failure of EuroDisney made imagineers think twice about their actions. Submarine Voyage was then closed on September 9 of 1998. They decided to based new Tommorowland to a Steampunk themed area and Discoveryland like buildings.Rides like People mover closed. They changed the color theme to Brown, Bronze , and Gold. 1996, Disneyland was lacking Teenage attention so they wanted to appeal to Teens/Adults. They made a Stage dedicated to concerts from numerous bands, mostly cover bands. 1997, they made a new entrance for Tommorow land with rock structures around. Locals ussualy call Tommorowland a hang out spot.Rocket Rods was eventually taken off tommorowland because of it's destruction of the track . Captain EO was replaced with Honey, I shrunk the audience. Astro Orbitor was placed on the entrance. Space Mountain was repainted to a Bronze and Gold Color.
In Febuary 2005 Tommorowland returned to it's original roots. Leaving the Steampunk theme to classic Disneyland. Using more of the Blue and white colors. Most of the painting was completed on 2009. In 2007 Submarine Voyage returned in a form of a Finding Nemo ride. Early 2010, Honey I Shrunk the kids closed due to the demand of Captain EO. IN July 2010 Star Tours went through a major renovation to Star Tours- The Adventure Continues and was later opened on June 2011.
November 16, 2015 Tommorow launched Star Wars "Season of the force" to celebrate Star Wars: The Force Awakens. TommorowLand Expo Center turned into Star Wars Launch Bay. Jedi Training recived and upgrade, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. Space Mountain tunred into a Star Wars themed rollercoaster named Hyperspace Mountain. Autopia got refurbished to a new paintjob/cars. Autopia also recieved Asimo, the robot which guided you throughout the adventure.
